A new build island lodge

This was a not  inconsiderable architectural challenge: to design and construct a large new build property, combining both guest and family accommodation, on the small Hebridean island of Muck, situated off Scotland's west coast.

The design for the new lodge at Gallanach at the north of the island is essentially two houses in one. The building divides into one side for lodge guests, the other side for private family accommodation along with the large kitchen.  There are 8 guest bedrooms including ground floor ‘accessible’ accommodation and sanitary facilities.

The design brings the two sides of the building together with a large communal area including dining and lounge, where guests relax and recuperate in comfort after a long day’s activity on Muck and the surrounding islands.

The results speak for themselves. The building now forms the core of an established business, winning many accolades for the facilities it provides and the quality of service it enables.  A visit to ‘Trip Advisor’ tells all.
